The 1989 Washington State District Court Weighted Caseload Study was developed to bypass the indirect and complex methods typically associated with weighted caseload research. Unlike previous studies, the current research employs a case-oriented design to measure judicial time expended.
Abstract
These revisions to traditional time-oriented methods are intended to better measure case weights and judge year values. As a result, estimation of judicial position needs should be more precise. While these case-oriented methods do mitigate some of the limitations commonly associated with weighted caseload systems, they are most appropriate for courts where cases are disposed within a two-year time frame. 3 notes, 6 references.
