Abstract
POLICE COMMAND AND CONTROL IS DEFINED BY THE AUTHOR AS 'THE DEPLOYMENT, DIRECTION AND CO-ORDINATION OF POLICE RESOURCES IN RESPONSE TO CALLS FOR SERVICE AND IN THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER OPERATIONAL DUTIES'. THEREFORE, A COMMAND AND CONTROL COMPUTER SYSTEM IS BASICALLY A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, A DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM, AND A MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM. EACH OF THESE THREE APPLICATIONS IS BRIEFLY DISCUSSED.
