ACCOUNT OF THE WORK DONE BY THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION CRIMINAL LAW SECTION'S COMMITTEE TO IMPLEMENT THE STANDARDS FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE BETWEEN 1968 AND 1972.
Abstract
REVIEWED IS THE PLANNING AND FEEDBACK EXPERIENCE GARNERED FROM THE THREE PILOT IMPLEMENTATION STATES OF ARIZONA, TEXAS, AND FLORIDA; THE COMPARATIVE ANALYSES INITIATED BY THE INDIVIDUAL STATES; AND THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE JUDICIARY, THE PRACTICING LAWYER, THE GOVERNMENT, THE LAW SCHOOLS, AND THE PUBLIC. EXAMPLES OF THE EFFORTS EXPENDED TO ASSIST STATES IN IMPLEMENTING THE STANDARDS ARE ALSO CITED. THE LONG-RANGE IMPLEMENTATION GOALS IDENTIFIED INCLUDED RESEARCH AND EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF IMPLEMENTATION, MODEL LEGISLATION, IDENTIFYING AND FILLING GAPS IN THE STANDARDS, AND REEVALUATING AND UPDATING THE STANDARDS.
