Considerable controversy surrounds the indeterminate sentence but little attention has focused on the impact the indeterminate sentence has on the institution.
Abstract
This study demonstrates how this form of sentencing creates unique adaptations on the part of inmates which in turn create different types of difficulties for staff. Finally real questions are raised as to whether this type of sentencing facilitates rehabilitation anymore than the traditional mandatory sentencing. (Author abstract)
