Abstract
The report presents current data on the incidence and cost of injuries in the country and in Illinois, risk factors, prevention and intervention strategies, and recommendations on injury prevention and control initiatives. It notes that car crashes, homicides, domestic assault, suicides, falls, house fires, drownings, and poisonings are everyday events in Illinois. It notes that injuries are a major burden for the citizens of Illinois in terms of life lost, physical impairment, health care costs, and other costs.
