This plan discusses the management of maximum security institutions, the need to reduce the inmate population at these facilities, and other major issues being addressed by the Illinois Department of Corrections in fiscal year 1987.
Abstract
Major issues facing adult institutions are methods of maintaining control over the four adult maximum security institutions and providing community correctional center opportunities to long-term offenders. The major issue in community supervision is providing safety to the public through effective community supervision. For juveniles, the major issue is the provision of mental health services and community support. The major administrative issue is the maintenance of general office productivity through the use of automation. Background information about each issue, maps, tables, lists of goals and objectives, procedures for public review of the plan, and related materials.
