This report highlights activities of the Illinois Department of Corrections in fiscal year 1991.
Abstract
During the reporting period, the Governor appointed a new Director of Corrections. This report contains an organizational table and descriptions of the functions performed and programs operated by each division of the Department of Corrections. The Office of the Director includes a Public Information Office, Office of Intergovernmental Relations, and an Office of Accreditation and Standards. The Chief Deputy Director is responsible for, inter alia, the Illinois Correctional Industries, the Labor Relations Office, and the Affirmative Action Office. The Planning and Budget Unit, Budget Services Section, Capital Planning Unit, and Procurement Section are components of the Bureau of Administration and Planning. Also included in this report are the Bureau of Employee and Inmate Services and the Bureau of Inspections and Audits. This annual report discusses the operation and programs conducted at many of the facilities run under the auspices of the Adult Division which consists of 23 facilities, 5 work camps, 3 condemned units, and 4 reception and classification centers. The Community Supervision division is comprised of the Special Intensive Supervision Unit, Community Drug Intervention Program, and 11 community correctional centers across the State. Six youth centers and the Juvenile Field Services unit comprise the Juvenile Division.
