Abstract
THE EXORBITANT AND USUALLY HIDDEN COSTS OF BUSINESS CRIME ARE DELINEATED, AND IT IS SHOWN HOW ULTIMATELY THE CONSUMER BEARS THE COST. THE SUBCULTURAL INFLUENCES AND CONDITIONING THAT TAKE PLACE WITHIN THE OPERATIONS OF THE BUSINESS WORLD ARE ELUCIDATED, AND THE PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIOLOGY OF BUSINESS CRIME ARE EXPLAINED. THE LENIENCY WITH WHICH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM TREATS OFFENDERS IN THE BUSINESS WORLD IS DOCUMENTED. FINALLY, THE CREATION OF A COUNTERVAILING FORCE AND THE REFORM OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM ARE SPECIFIED AS WAYS OF REDUCING BUSINESS CRIME.
