CONCEPTION, SYSTEM DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION AND COSTS OF AN AUTOMATED ADDRESS FILE WHICH IS A PHASE TWO DEVELOPMENT OF A FULLY INTEGRATED, COMPUTERIZED COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE ADDRESS FILE IS USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A COMPUTERAIDED DISPATCHING SYSTEM WHICH WAS IMPLEMENTED AS THE PHASE ONE EFFORT OF THIS COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEM. THE ADDRESS FILE PROVIDES A COMPLAINT WRITER WITH FOUR-SECOND LOCATION VERIFICATION AND ALLOWS HIM TO AUTOMATICALLY RELAY ALL PERTINENT LOCATION REFERENCE AND POLICE INVESTIGATIVE AND HAZARD INFORMATION TO THE RESPONDING OFFICERS. IN THIS WAY RESPONSE TIME IS REDUCED WHILE OFFICER SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY IN HANDLING CALLS IS ENHANCED. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS INTENDED AS A MODEL FOR SIMILAR POLICE SYSTEMS IN MEDIUM SIZED CITIES. APPENDIXES TO THIS REPORT DESCRIBE THE DATA PROCESSING RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PROJECT AND INCLUDE A SAMPLE OF THE DATA INPUT FORM FOR OFFICERS' USE. FOR A REVIEW OF THE ENTIRE COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEM SEE NCJ-18969.
