VERY BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE 'IDENTIGEM' SYSTEM WHICH USES SPECIAL EQUIPMENT TO IDENTIFY AND CLASSIFY MARKINGS AND 'INCLUSIONS' IN INDIVIDUAL DIAMONDS, AND WILL COMPUTERIZE DIAMOND IDENTIFICATION DATA SO DERIVED.
Abstract
A STONE PROCESSED BY THE IDENTIGEM SERVICE HAS TO UNDERGO EIGHT TESTS: WEIGHT, CUT, CLARITY, COLOR, COLOR PRINT, CRYSTAL PRINT, GONIOMETER CONTOUR PRINT, AND GRADES OF POLISHING. THE DATA OBTAINED FROM THESE TESTS WILL BE STORED IN A DATA BANK OPERATED BY 'DIAMOND GRADING LABORATORIES' AND CAN BE USED TO ESTABLISH OR VERIFY THE UNIQUE IDENTITY OF THAT PARTICULAR STONE.
