This report presents statistical descriptions of all persons sentenced to correctional institutions administered by Hong Kong's Correctional Services Department.
Abstract
Data are provided on inmates who served their sentences in prisons, drug addiction treatment centers, training centers, or detention centers in 1994. Of 15,953 admissions to the Correctional Services Department in 1994, 12,667 were sentenced to prisons, 2,452 to drug addiction treatment centers, 482 to training centers, and 352 to detention centers. The statistical report is divided into four sections: (1) overall view of socioeconomic and criminal characteristics of sentenced persons; (2) key statistics on sentenced persons by correctional program type; (3) detailed statistics on drug-dependent persons; and (4) comparative statistics for 1993 and 1994. 39 tables and 5 figures
