This manual on preparing for law enforcement civil service exams provides instructions and guidance for studying and test taking, quizzes on various areas of law enforcement, and sample exams for various law enforcement positions.
Abstract
This book tells the reader what to study by presenting in full every type of question likely to be on the actual test and further helps the reader to identify the subjects in which he/she is weak so emphasis may be given to these areas. Almost all of the sample and practice questions are taken from previous exams. The manual opens with brief descriptions of various types of law enforcement positions, and expanded discussion is given to the occupations of police officer and FBI special agents. Instructions for applying for civil service positions are provided, along with a sample of an official announcement and a qualifying physical fitness test. Topics considered in the quizzes include evidence, law and crime, police law, observation and memory, the job and judgment of law enforcement officers, traffic problems, the offender, and fingerprints and the police laboratory, along with identification and observation, interrogation, firearms, and apprehension and arrest. General instructions are provided on how to take a test, and three samples of exams for police officer are provided, together with sample exams for a detective investigator and police sergeant.
