Abstract
The book covers mechanical home security devices (locks, bolts, etc.) and electronic alarm systems along with protective equipment for small valuables. Photographs and diagrams depict the equipment and its placement. The book summarizes the main domestic fire risks, looks at the various types of heat and smoke detectors available, and suggests appropriate placing of detectors. It also advises on what to do if the alarm sounds, gives some fire safety precautions, and outlines fire extinguishing methods. An index is included.
