The report summarizes the work of the biology, chemistry, drugs and toxicology, and operational services (including computer operations) divisions. It includes casework statistics.
Abstract
The Biology Division researched uniform quality reagents and reference samples, immunoassays, fish blood identification, diatoms in the diagnosis of drowning deaths, and blood and other body fluids. The Chemistry Division studied alcohol, fingerprints, glass, paint, fibers, and microspectrometry, as well as on other evidential materials. The Drugs and Toxicology Division completed a project on the investigation of color tests for organic compounds and researched the interpretation of drug and metabolite tissue concentrations, drug intelligence, and analysis of drugs in small samples of blood and urine. The Operational Services Division inaugurated a new literature retrieval system and made advances in the area of evidence interpretation. Appendixes present current projects, agency publications, and other related materials.
