PERSONNEL SELECTION, TRAINING, UNIFORMS, FIREARMS, AND MASS STUDENT DISRUPTION ARE DISCUSSED IN RELATION TO THE PROPER ROLE OF AN EFFECTIVE CAMPUS SECURITY PROGRAM.
Abstract
PERSONNEL SHOULD BE WELL-EDUCATED, COLLEGE DEGREES ARE PREFERABLE, AND SHOULD BE TRAINED IN-HOUSE. POLICE ACADEMY TRAINING COURSES OFTEN DO NOT DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS FOUND ON CAMPUSES. THE AUTHOR FAVORS A BLAZER AND SLACKS TYPE OF UNIFORM AS WELL AS THE CARRYING OF FIREARMS, BUT NOT AT ALL TIMES. FOR PART ONE, SEE NCJ-35370.
