This article examines three high velocity guns as effective alternatives to big-bullet guns.
Abstract
When it comes to the use of slow, heavy bullets versus slim, high-velocity bullets in the law enforcement world there are many ongoing debates. What is not debated is that officers can deliver lightweight high velocity bullets at targets with a great degree of accuracy and speed, increasing their ability to engage multiple targets. Not every agency has a need for speed. However, it is evident that lightweight, fast shooting guns firing high velocity cartridges have their place in law enforcement. This article took a look at three high velocity guns currently on the market, the Sig Sauer P239 in .357 SIG, the Sig Sauer P250, and FNH USA’s FiveseveN USG. The purpose is to explore some alternatives to big bullets. In the tests, shooters equipped with the test guns increased their skills and engaged multiple targets with surprising speed in their followup shots.
