REPORT OF A STUDY DESIGNED TO PRODUCE PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL STANDARDS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ON A NATIONAL LEVEL.
Abstract
THE RESEARCH IS BEING CONDUCTED JOINTLY BY THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND THE DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, UNDER AN NILECJ GRANT. A REVIEW OF THE THEORY AND RESEARCH REGARDING PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS AND THE DESIGN OF THE PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL PORTION OF THE STUDY ARE PRESENTED. THE REPORT INCLUDES INFORMATION ON THE STATISTICAL RELATION BETWEEN HEIGHT AND ASSAULTS FOR THE POLICE OF SEATTLE, LOS ANGELES, WASHINGTON, D.C., AND THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE.
