This publication of the components of a healthy diet is intended to provide guidance to police officers on what foods to eat and what foods to avoid while on duty, so as to promote eating habits that will enable officers to remain alert and energized while on duty as well as contribute to their general health.
Abstract
The sugar content of various beverages is shown, with water recommended as the preferred beverage while on duty. A chart shows what foods to choose and what foods to skip, with reasons given for the recommended food choices. Whole grains, eggs, and fruit are recommended, and pastries are to be avoided. Lean meats or fish, along with plenty of vegetables are recommended, and fast foods are to be avoided. Snacks with protein and fiber are recommended, and snacks with excess salt and sugar are to be avoided.
