THIS STUDY TAKES A LOOK AT THE HEALTH CARE SITUATION IN FLORIDA PRISONS AND DISCUSSES WHAT CAN BE DONE TO IMPROVE IT.
Abstract
THE STUDY OFFERS RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE AREAS OF ORGANIZATION, PERSONNEL AND STAFFING, MEDICAL RECORDS, DRUGS AND PROSTHETIC DEVICES, AND EXTRAMURAL PROPOSALS FOR CARE. SOME OF THESE INCLUDE: CLARIFICATION OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HEALTH CARE POLICY, ADOPTION OF A COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL SERVICES PLAN, AND GREATER CONSIDERATION OF MEDICAL CLASSIFICATION IN THE ASSIGNMENT OF PRISONERS TO INSTITUTIONS. IT ALSO RECOMMENDED THE USE OF STANDARD MEDICAL RECORD FORMS, COMPLIANCE WITH ALL FEDERAL AND STATE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO THE DISPENSING OF MEDICATIONS, AND INVESTIGATING WHAT ROLE UNIVERSITY AFFILIATED MEDICAL SERVICES CAN PLAY....BDS
