A DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATION AND APPLICATIONS OF THE NEW YORK CITY AUTOMATED MICROFILM SYSTEM WHICH HOLDS MUG SHOTS, ARREST RECORDS, AND FINGERPRINTS FOR QUICK CRIMINAL IDENTIFICATIONS.
Abstract
USING INFORMATION PROVIDED BY VICTIMS OR WITNESSES, A COMPREHENSIVE COMPOSITE OF THE CRIMINAL IS ENCODED FOR THE 'MIRAQUIC' SCANNER, WHICH SELECTS APPROPRIATE 'LOOK-ALIKES' FROM 16MM MICROFILM CASSETTES IN 22 SECONDS. THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL, AIDING IN APPROXIMATELY 600 SUCCESSFUL ARRESTS.
