The Hawaii County Police Department 1999-2000 Annual Report recognizes the achievements and activities of the Department.
Abstract
The report states some significant events taking place within the police department; for the first time in recent history, the police department is fully staffed; the installation of a worldwide computer e-mail system; and for the second year in a row, a new record in the number of DUI arrests was documented. Community initiatives recognized in the county are the Community Policing Project’s expansion of staff and facilities; the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program, treating sexual assault victims under the care of specially trained nurses; and the purchase of twenty-seven Automated External Defibrillators, saving the lives of cardiac arrest victims. The county received a Federal grant to establish a Clandestine Drug Laboratory Response Program. The county’s staff and organizational chart are provided.
