OUTLINE OF THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT'S ROLE IN LABOR MANAGEMENT DISPUTES, INCLUDING THE WORK OF THE LABOR RELATIONS SECTION AND THE INTELLIGENCE DIVISION.
Abstract
FOLLOWING A BRIEF DISCUSSION OF POLICE CONDUCT AT THE SCENE OF PICKETING. THE ARTICLE EXAMINES HOW THE LABOR RELATIONS SECTION MEETS WITH BOTH MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEE REPRESENTATIVES TO EMPHASIZE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONDUCTING PEACEFUL AND ORDERLY ACTIONS. THIS SECTION ALSO COORDINATES ITS INPUT TO THE LABOR RELATIONS FIELD WITH THAT OF FEDERAL AGENCIES SUCH AS THE FBI, THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD, AND THE FEDERAL MEDIATION AND CONCILIATION SERVICE. THE WORK OF THE INTELLIGENCE DIVISION IN WATCHING FOR INVOLVEMENT OF ORGANIZED CRIME WITH LABOR UNIONS IS ALSO TOUCHED UPON.
