Abstract
THE BOOK IS ORGANIZED INTO SIX SECTIONS: (1) CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS OF INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, (2) METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, (3) BASIC ATTRIBUTES OF INDIVIDUALS IN RELATION TO BEHAVIOR IN ORGANIZATIONS, (4) THE PRACTICE OF INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, (5) ATTRIBUTES OF ORGANIZATIONS AND THEIR EFFECTS ON ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERS, AND (6) BEHAVIORAL PROCESSES IN ORGANIZATIONS. THE CHAPTERS, EACH WRITTEN BY AN EXPERT, COVER THE GENERAL SYSTEMS APPROACH TO ORGANIZATIONAL ANALYSIS, MOTIVATIONAL THEORY, HUMAN LEARNING, EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN, STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES, FIELD RESEARCH METHODS, LABORATORY EXPERIMENTATION, AND GENERAL EXPERIMENTAL THEORY. THE PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS SECTIONS OF THE BOOK COVER THE MEASUREMENTS OF APTITUDES, ABILITIES, SKILLS, AND PERSONALITY VARIABLES; THE EFFECTS OF BEHAVIORS ON ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS; RECRUITMENT, VOCATIONAL MATCHING, AND JOB PLACEMENT; PERSONNEL TRAINING; AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT.
