Abstract
THIS HANDBOOK AROSE FROM EFFORTS TO REVISE THE CORRECTIONAL STATUTES OF NEBRASKA IN 1968. ONE ESSAY ON LAW REFORM RELATES NEBRASKA'S EXPERIENCE AND ANOTHER DEALS WITH THE BROADER PROBLEMS OF THE ROLE AND LIMITATIONS OF CORRECTIONAL STATUTES. THE MODEL ACT DEVELOPED FOR NEBRASKA IS ANALYZED SECTION BY SECTION. IN ADDITION, FOR EACH SECTION OF THE MODEL CODE, PATTERNS FOR SIMILAR STATUTORY PROVISIONS OF VARIOUS STATES ARE PROVIDED. CHAPTER THREE PROVIDES, IN OUTLINE FORM, A CRITICISM OF THE LAWS OF EACH STATE AS VIEWED FROM THE STANDPOINT OF ONE WHO HAS READ A STATE'S LAW. THE LAST CHAPTER CONTAINS A SERIES OF CHARTS WHICH ATTEMPT TO PROVIDE A LIST OF THE IMPORTANT STATUTORY PROVISIONS IN THE FIFTY STATES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
