Abstract
MAJOR PROBLEMS CONFRONTING POLICE IN ASSEMBLIES OF ANY SIZE ARE PRESENTED. OREGON REVISED STATUTES ON CIVIL DISTURBANCES ARE DEFINED AND EXPLAINED. TYPES OF CROWDS, TYPES OF PERSONS WITHIN A CROWD, BEHAVIOR CHARACTERISTICS OF MOBS, AND STAGES OF MOB DEVELOPMENT ARE EXAMINED. TECHNICAL DETAILS OF RIOT CONTROL FORMATIONS AND THEIR USE AT SQUAD AND PLATOON LEVEL, AND THE USE OF BASIC AND SPECIALIZED RIOT WEAPONS IS DESCRIBED.
