These guidelines identify the scientific information that should be included in a health risk assessment for tear gas product certification under California law.
Abstract
The health risk assessment must be provided to the California Department of Justice by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment. The report should contain a brief introduction describing the tear gas product, its intended use, and any historical background that may be helpful. A description of the product's chemistry should list its active ingredients, inert ingredients, impurities and breakdown products, and the chemical and physical properties of the active and inert ingredients. Other sections should describe hazards, occupational standards for each chemical, daily intake restrictions, an exposure assessment, a toxicology profile, risk characterization, and other information.
