Abstract
This guidebook, produced by the Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps, provides a framework for supporting sustainable strategies, practices, and policies geared towards improving coordination between the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. This updated edition was developed in order to inform State and local government officials about additional experiences and lessons that have been learned since the original publication of the guidebook. The purpose of the guidebook is to provide jurisdictions with the knowledge needed to implement enhanced multi-system practices to improve the outcomes for youth and their families. The guidebook presents a process by which officials can determine what integration and coordination efforts will best achieve improved outcomes for children and families involved in both the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. The guidebook is divided into four main sections: Phase 1 - Mobilization and Advocacy; Phase 2 - Study and Analysis; Phase 3 - Action Strategy; and Phase 4 - Implementation. Case studies of successful programs are provided in sections 3 and 4 of the guidebook. Tables, figures, and appendixes
