This directory describes 27 treatment programs provided by the California Department of the Youth Authority to help prepare wards for successful return to the community.
Abstract
The programs include institutions, camps, and parole services available as of October 1977. Programs are periodically revised or terminated to meet changing needs. The goal of youth authority institutions and camps is to provide a safe, secure, and normal environment coupled with quality care and supervision. The youth authority has also contracted for bed space within other State institutions, including a vocational school and several hospitals, to provide specialized care for certain youths. Parole programs include 24 regular parole programs serving about 6,376 young men and women and several kinds of specialized parole programs. For each program, general and specific program descriptions are provided. Information covers location, capacity, types of clients, client intake, and specific program components. The telephone number and address of each program is also given. A State map shows the location of each program.
