These guidelines on the management of risks to businesses present a systems approach to the management of any risk and specific advice and forms covering the prevention of losses from forgery, fire, civil disorders, burglary, and robbery.
Abstract
Guidelines on using the systems approach cover the setting of objectives, establishing the boundaries of the risk management system, identifying risks, measuring the cost and impact of risk, assessing current security equipment and procedures, choosing areas of improvement, developing and comparing alternative solutions, and choosing the optimum system. Additional advice covers the selection of hardware and software, developing a long-range schedule of implementation, and monitoring the system. Questionnaires for analyzing risks from each of the crimes discussed focus on loss potential, procedural vulnerability, and physical vulnerability.
