DISCUSSION OF TRIAL/APPELLATE COURT OPERATIONS INCLUDING EFFORTS OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE TO COMPILE A PROFILE OF THE COURTS TO PROVIDE TO SERVE AS A STATISTICAL BASE FOR STATEWIDE RECOMMENDATIONS IN COURT ADMINISTRATION.
Abstract
ADVANCES MADE IN THE AREAS OF COURT REPORTING, PATTERN JURY INSTRUCTIONS. INDIGENT DEFENSE AND JUVENILE JUSTICE ARE REVIEWED. STUDIES INITIATED TO EVALUATE THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL JUDICIAL MANPOWER AND THE FUNCTIONS AND CAPABILITIES OF THE JUSTICES OF THE PEACE ARE DESCRIBED AS IS AN INFORMATION SYSTEM BEING DEVELOPED FOR STATEWIDE USE. A REPORT ON COURT-RELATED LEGISLATION IS INCLUDED. APPENDIXES CONTAIN A CHART TRACING THE PROGRESS OF MAJOR PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY THE OFFICE; STATE SENATE BILLS AND RESOLUTIONS CREATING THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL, UNIFYING THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM, AND REGULATING COURT REPORTING; A LIST OF JUDICIAL COUNCIL MEMBERS; AND THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL OF JUVENILE COURT JUDGES. A FUNDING ANALYSIS PRESENTS A BREAKDOWN OF LEAA (LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION) PROJECTS FOR FISCAL YEARS 1974 THROUGH 1976.
