This publication of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is a solicitation overview of the FY 2024 Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Program.

Abstract

In this solicitation overview, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) provides information about applying for funding from the FY 2024 Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Program. State, local, and tribal enforcement and prosecutions agencies are eligible to apply to receive funding to support conducting outreach, educating practitioners and the public, enhancing victim reporting tools, and investigating and prosecuting hate crimes. BJA encourages applications from agencies that have not previously received BJA funding and convening or governing bodies that can apply on behalf of one or more entities. The publication includes a list of examples of strategies and activities that can be funded as well as tips for success.
