THE INFORMATION NEEDS SERVED BY THE SYSTEM INCLUDE FINGERPRINTS, CRIMINAL RECORDS, CRIME STATISTICS, CRIMINALISTICS TECHNOLOGY, THE WHEREABOUTS OF PERSONS, THE WHEREABOUTS OF WEAPONS AND OTHER OBJECTS, AND THE DOCUMENTATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE LITERATURE. ALTHOUGH THE COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF INFORMATION ON THE WHEREABOUTS OF PERSONS IS CENTRALIZED, CONTROL OF THE USE OF THIS INFORMATION REMAINS DECENTRALIZED. ALSO IN DEVELOPMENT ARE REGIONAL AND MUNICIPAL POLICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR DATA ON POPULATION, DRIVERS' LICENSES, PUBLIC HEALTH, BUILDING CONSTRUCTION, AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS. --IN GERMAN
