This article describes the various means used by the National Institute of Justice's Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) to inform the foresics community about various timely issues and forensics advancements.

Abstract

A primary goal of the FTCoE according to staff member Rebecca Shute is "to focus on themes that are very timely, and we're taking an approach that involves several different types of deliverables." This effort involves the delivery of information and perspectives on forensic technology through webinars, podcasts, workshops, and a redesigned website with a topical focus. Currently, the FTCoE is focusing on educational materials related to forensic pathology and medicolegal death investigations (MDI). Although these are the first topics receiving this multi-pronged delivery of information, the FTCoE is planning to emphasize at least six more topics during 2019. FTCoE is currently focusing on MDI and forensic pathology because of two recent conferences, the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners Annual Training Conference in July and the National Association of Medical Examiners Annual Meeting in October. The FTCoE promoted its MDI resources at both of these annual events.
