Abstract
The first article describes the computer-aided dispatch center in Fairfax County, Va., and its capabilities. The second article details how the Tampa Area Sheriff's Operations Center (Florida) integrated its information system with digital computerized dispatch and the challenges and benefits that ensued. Police news conferences are highlighted in the third article, specifying the press officer's role, planning, implementation, and advantages of press conferences. The fourth article presents a sampling of personal radios including features and prices. The fifth article describes the City of Davenport's (Iowa) purchase of the enhanced-911 and computer-aided dispatch systems, their benefits, and the city's future direction. Finally, the last article features an interview with the editor of 'Crimewatch UK,' a documentary-style television program that enlists the cooperation of the public in solving crimes. The reactions of the law enforcement personnel to the program and the success of the program are detailed. For individual articles, see NCJ-109553-109558.
