ANALYSIS OF SEVERAL CASES OF SERIOUS, VIOLENT, STRANGER-TO-STRANGER CRIME COMMITTED BY PERSON UNDER 14 YEARS OLD IN WEST GERMANY TO DETERMINE CAUSAL FACTORS IN THE GROWING TREND OF SERIOUS CRIME BY JUVENILES.
Abstract
THE ANALYSIS SUGGESTS THE MAJOR JUVENILE DELINQUENCY FACTOR IS THE CONFLICT IN CHILDREN'S MINDS CAUSED BY THE DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN EXPECTATIONS AND REALITY AS THEY ARE CREATED BY ADULTS. THE MASS MEDIA (ESPECIALLY TELEVISION) AND UNREALISTIC UPBRINGING IN THE HOME ARE CITED AS ENGENDERING MATERIALISTIC VALUES, A FEAR OF FAILURE, INSENSITIVITY TO OTHERS, AND A DISTORTED VIEW OF REALITY. --IN GERMAN
