INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE PLANNING OF PROJECTS TO BE FUNDED UNDER THE OMNIBUS CRIME CONTROL AND SAFE STREETS ACT OF 1968 AND THE JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACT IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE MANUAL PROVIDES POTENTIAL SUBGRANTEES WITH INFORMATION NEEDED TO PLAN PROJECTS PRIOR TO PREPARING A FORMAL SUBGRANT APPLICATION. THE MANUAL INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE LEAA PROGRAM IN FLORIDA, INCLUDING THE ADMINISTRATIVE MECHANISM USED BY THE STATE TO PLAN FOR AND DISBURSE FUNDS UNDER THE CRIME CONTROL AND JUVENILE JUSTICE ACTS; AN EXPLANATION OF HOW FLORIDA'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS RELATE TO THE APPLICATION PROCESS; SUGGESTED APPROACHES TO PROJECT DEVELOPMENT; THE PLANNING AND FISCAL POLICIES OF THE STATE BUREAU OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AND ASSISTANCE; AND APPLICATION PROCEDURES. FOR EACH SPECIFIC PROGRAM AREA IN WHICH SUBGRANT APPLICATIONS MAY BE MADE (WITHIN THE BROAD PROGRAM AREAS OF CRIME PREVENTION, JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION, LAW ENFORCEMENT, COURTS, CORRECTIONS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS, AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS), INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON PROGRAM OBJECTIVES, EXPECTED RESULTS, TARGET GROUPS, ELIGIBILITY FOR FUNDING, RELATED STANDARDS, DATA REQUIREMENTS FOR MONITORING AND EVALUATION, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, AND EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS.
