This CD-ROM contains reports on Florida’s “deep-end” female offenders, encompassing an extensive assessment of the backgrounds, characteristics, and needs of these youths.
Abstract
One of the objectives of the research is to develop a descriptive profile of female delinquency cases and youths referred in Florida for fiscal years 1991-92 through 1995-96. A second objective is to develop a descriptive profile of all commitment programs currently available to girls in the Florida juvenile justice system. The project will also involve in-depth interviews with one-quarter of all the girls committed to moderate and high-risk residential commitment programs in Florida. Such efforts will result in the development and maintenance of an information clearinghouse of research regarding female juvenile offenders, as well as the establishment of a network of contacts at the State and national levels. Data will be collected from various Department of Juvenile Justice programs and facilities throughout the State. The data collection will include compiling information for detailed descriptions of female offenders and commitment programs, interviews with staff and girls in residential commitment programs, interviews with case managers and commitment managers, and site visits for field observation.
