RESULTS OF COMPARATIVE STUDIES INVOLVING FINGERPRINTS OF CAUCASOID, NEGROID, AND MONGOLOID (JAPANESE AND AMERICAN AND AMERICAN INDIAN) ORIGIN.
Abstract
TENTATIVE CONCLUSIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING - (1) FINGER PATTERNS DIFFER BETWEEN THE RACES MORE THAN BETWEEN SUBDIVISIONS OF THE SAME RACE. (2) THE OUTSTANDING CHARACTERISTIC OF THE MONGOLOID RACE IS THE PREPONDERANCE WHORL PATTERNS. (3) THE OUTSTANDING CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAUCASOID RACE IS THE PREPONDERANCE OF ALL LOOP PATTERNS. (4) RADIAL LOOPS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE FOUND IN CAUCASIANS THAN IN EITHER MONGOLIANS OR NEGROES. (5) THE NEGROID PATTERNS ARE MORE SIMILAR PERCENTAGE-WIDE TO THE CAUCASOID RATHER THAN TO THE MONGOLOID EXCEPT IN REGARD TO RADIALS. THE AUTHOR STIPULATES THAT THE NEGROID FINGER PATTERNS STUDIED WERE ONLY THOSE OF THE RACE WHO LIVED IN THE UNITED STATES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
