Abstract
An accounting of the year’s activities and goals is divided by police division. The Patrol Division hired 9 new officers and received a total of 29,324 calls for service during 2002. The Patrol Division increased enforcement of liquor violations and implemented the Findlay Village Mall Enforcement Program during the Christmas season. Goals of the Patrol Division include increasing proactive patrols and equipping all cruisers with MDT’s. The Detective Division, which supports the Patrol Division, assigned 392 cases to detectives during 2002 and boasts a 43 percent solvability rate. Goals of this division include training two Detectives in the area of child sexual abuse investigations and maintaining a solvability rate above 40 percent. Next, the Metrich Drug Task Force’s structure and the need for more experienced officers in the field of drug investigations are described. Despite this weakness, many of the goals set for 2002 were met. Current goals include the continued improvement of investigator skills. The report moves on to an examination of the Special Services Division, which is comprised of many different Units: Crime Prevention, Fingerprinting, Court Officer-Findlay Municipal Court, Record Room Division, Parking Division, Property Officer, Special Projects/Public Relations, Training, and Crossing Guards. A brief description of the 2002 activities and the goals of each unit are discussed in turn. Many of the current goals across the Special Services Unit involve continued training of officers and the maintenance of a high level of service. Appendix
