This final report on the Maine Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance Agency (MCJPAA), the State agency which administered the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration program in Maine, summarizes and reviews MCJPAA's major activities.
Abstract
Following a review of the history of the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, MCJPAA, and the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act, the report reviews MCJPAA's major accomplishments. These are described in the areas of training and education, law enforcement, courts, corrections, juvenile justice, and systemwide projects. A report on subgrant data presents a summary of awards; a subgrant listing of municipal, county, and local not-for-profit organizations; State agencies and schools; and miscellaneous and statewide not-for-profit organizations. MCJPAA's executive committee recommends the continuation and expansion of support for criminal justice training through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy; the maintenance of programs in the areas of communications, records, and computer technology; and the continuation of statewide planning, interaction, and coordination of and by Maine's criminal justice community. Appendixes list former board members and former MCJPAA staff.
