Results of a 1986 Field Supervision Time Study conducted for the Texas Board of Pardons and Parolees indicate a substantial increase in the differential supervision of cases based on risk, compared to the 1984 Field Supervision Study.
Abstract
Approximately 30 percent of all parole officers monitored supervision time over a 2-month period, March-April 1986, on 10 case types ranging from intensive supervision to halfway houses and sex offenders. The increase in differential supervision compared to 1984 was largely due to increased time associated with supervising intensive cases. The time study suggests that existing workloads are excessively high, negatively impacting officers' abilities to meet agency's supervision standards. Tables.
