Sixty-one female inmates of the North Carolina Correctional Center for Women participated in a 3-week treatment study designed to assess the most effective strategy for facilitating adjustment to prison.
Abstract
All subjects were assigned to one of three conditions: (1) a no-treatment Control group, (2) a Support-Only group, or (3) a Psychodidactic Intervention Support group. Subjects in the two treatment groups evidenced a greater level of adjustment than did the control group subjects on two of the four major outcome measures. Implications of these findings were discussed. (Author abstract)
