THIS IS THE 1976 ANNUAL REPORT WHICH ASSESSES THE EFFECTIVENESS AND OUTLINES FUTURE DIRECTIVES OF THE FEDERAL PROGRAM TO CONTROL DRUG ABUSE, THE STRATEGY COUNCIL ON DRUG ABUSE.
Abstract
SPECIFICALLY, CHAPTER I OUTLINES THE OVERALL FEDERAL STRATEGY FOR DEALING WITH THE DRUG ABUSE PROBLEM AND REFINES AND EXTENDS SEVERAL BASIC COMPONENTS OF THE STRATEGY. CHAPTER II PRESENTS AN ASSESSMENT OF THE NATURE AND EXTENT OF DRUG ABUSE IN AMERICA, FOCUSING PARTICULARLY ON THE LAST THREE YEARS. CHAPTER III SUMMARIZES THE CONSIDERABLE PROGRESS WHICH HAS BEEN MADE IN IMPROVING THE FEDERAL DRUG ABUSE PROGRAM OVER THE PAST EIGHTEEN MONTHS. FINALLY, CHAPTER IV DISCUSSES THE REMAINING PROBLEMS AND OUTLINES THE FRAMEWORK FOR DEALING WITH THEM IN THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)---KAP
