EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES WERE DEVELOPED FOR THE RAPID AND SPECIFIC DETECTION OF HEROIN AND MAIRJUANA VAPORS.
Abstract
THE RESEARCH REPORTED ON CONSISTED OF A SURVEY AND ANALYSIS OF THE BACKGROUND ENVIRONMENT; SELECTION AND ISOLATION OF SUITABLE MICROBIAL BIOSENSORS; ANALYSIS OF VARIOUS GROWTH AND RESPONSE PARAMETERS OF THESE SENSORS; DEVELOPMENT OF BIOSENSORS WITH INCREASED SENSITIVITY; AND SEVERAL DEMONSTRATIONS OF FEASIBILITY. TWO SUPERIOR STRAINS OF MICROBIAL BIOSENSORS WERE SELECTED FOR HEROIN DETECTION, BUT NONE WERE FOUND CONSISTENTLY SENSITIVE TO MARIJUANA. AN APPARATUS WAS DESIGNED TO ALLOW FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS EVALUATION OF UP TO SIX BIOSENSORS. SEE NCJ-32151 FOR AN EVALUATION OF THE DETECTION METHOD.
