Abstract
Material on training describes the activities of the Law Enforcement Training Network (LETN), and material on victim-witness issues describes the Victim Notification System, which is a pilot program in the Justice Department designed to assist the FBI, U.S. Attorney Offices, and the Bureau of Prisons in their responsibility to notify Federal crime victims on the status of an investigation, prosecution, and incarceration. A presentation on racial and ethnic profiling examines its prevalence, motivations, consequences, and management responses designed to prevent it. Materials were also included on the principles of stress management. A report on the activities of the Office of Justice Programs for fiscal year 2000 describes its funding opportunities; lists the amount of funding available; and indicates who could apply and the status of program regulations, guidelines, reports, and application kits. A guide to safe schools summarizes the research on violence prevention and intervention, as well as crisis response in schools. Another section provides an outline for a workshop on an effective police response to hate/bias crimes. Other sections describe the LECC/Victim-Witness website, list LECC/Victim-Witness staff, and present a directory of the membership of the Coordinators' Advisory Committee.
