This report on New Jersey's network of methadone maintenance clinics responds to a questionnaire issued by LEAA to document grant fulfillments and presents illustrations of New Jersey's program.
Abstract
An overview explains briefly the ongoing procedures used by the New Jersey State Methadone Maintenance Program and the activities undertaken between July 1, 1970, and June 30, 1971. The LEAA questionnaire is presented with New Jersey's responses to such questions as program directorship, financing, type of facility and client capacity, total and average caseload, characteristics of drug users accepted for treatment, and services provided. Also addressed in the questionnaire are criteria for acceptance and termination, numbers of applications and terminations, types of procedures used for individual case evaluations, followup evaluations, staff training and selection, and agency cooperation. The name and addresses of the network of clinics operating under the New Jersey program are provided. Attached guidelines for the methadone maintenance program provide information regarding the decision to include ambulatory induction, with discussion regarding this kind of induction. Addendums look at equipment and personnel needs and further aspects with regard to ambulatory induction. Sample forms are presented, including the agreement form, a parental or guardian consent form, and the monthly methadone maintenance report.
