Abstract
THE AUTHOR STUDIED VARIOUS OFFICES AND WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY TYPES OF AGENTS BY THEIR PERCEPTION OF THEIR FUNCTIONS, BE IT TREATMENT, SUPERVISION, OR CUSTODY. SUPERVISORS WERE EVALUATED AND THE NATURE OF RELATIONS BETWEEN FIELD AND DISTRICT OFFICES. THE EXPECTATIONS GENERATED BY SUPERVISORS HAD A MARKED EFFECT ON PAROLEE SUCCESS OR FAILURE.
