Abstract
MOST OF THE SCOPES EVALUATED ARE OF MILITARY ORIGIN EXCEPT ONE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR POLICE APPLICATION AND ARE PASSIVE DEVICES WHICH OPERATE ON AN ELECTRONIC LIGHT INTENSIFICATION PRINCIPLE TO PRESENT A VISIBLE IMAGE OF A LOW-LIGHT-LEVEL TARGET. ON THE BASIS OF MANUFACTURER'S ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS, FIELD TRIALS, SIMULATED TACTICAL MISSIONS, AND EQUIPMENT DEMONSTRATIONS BY MANUFACTURER'S TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVES, IT IS CONCLUDED THAT THESE DEVICES, AT THEIR PRESENT STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT, CAN PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE AS AN AID IN COMBATING CRIME (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
