This study attempts to evaluate the feasibility of applying a standard assessment protocol to Franco-Quebec victims of child sexual abuse and nonoffending mothers, and to compare results from an initial sample with data from English-speaking samples.
Abstract
The assessment protocol included: (1) Evaluating a standard set of dimensions pertaining to the victim, the nature of the abuse, and the nonoffending parent; (2) Training agency workers in nonsuggestive interview skills; (3) Having trained psychologists administer a multi-instrument self-report battery to the victim and the nonoffending parent; and (4) Rapid (2-5 days) computer-assisted correction and interpretation of instruments. Application of a multi-instrument protocol to French-speaking victims and their mothers generated results similar to those found in publications featuring English-speaking samples; participating workers have begun to incorporate results from the protocol into their daily practice.
