SUMMARY OF AN EVALUATION OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE (NILECJ) WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED TO DISSEMINATE INFORMATION ABOUT EXEMPLARY PROJECTS AND NEW CRIMINAL JUSTICE CONCEPTS.
Abstract
THE STUDY WAS UNDERTAKEN TO EVALUATE THE FOUR WORKSHOP SERIES CONDUCTED IN 1975 WITH RESPECT TO THE DEGREE TO WHICH ATTENDEES INITIATED IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES ANY CONCEPTS DISCUSSED, ATTENDEES' EVALUATIONS OF WORKSHOP TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS, WAYS TO IMPROVE FUTURE WORKSHOPS, AND SUGGESTIONS FOR FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITIES. A QUESTIONNAIRE WAS DEVELOPED TO DETERMINE OPINIONS OF THE ATTENDEES IN THE FOUR EVALUATION AREAS AND MAILED TO THEM APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS AFTER ATTENDING WORKSHOPS. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT FINDING OF THE STUDY WAS THAT MANY WORKSHOP ATTENDEES REPORTED THAT THEM WERE ABLE TO INTEREST THEIR COMMUNITY TO ADOPT ALL OR PORTIONS OF THE PROGRAM OR CONCEPT DISCUSSED AT A WORKSHOP. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVING NILECJ-SPONSORED WORKSHOPS AND SUPPORTING MANUALS AND HANDBOOKS ARE INCLUDED.
